You ask customers to read your emails, try a feature, or buy something. Then “do not reply” shuts the door when they have a question. That feels dismissive.
Give them a real reply address instead. With Google Workspace Gmail and Agentkit, customer questions can reach an agent that drafts answers from your product knowledge. Your team reviews them before sending.
We use this pattern ourselves: a business inbox forwards to Agentkit, where we review replies. It works alongside your existing newsletter or transactional-email tool.
Connect Google Workspace to Agentkit
You'll need Google Workspace administrator access, a business mailbox, and an Agentkit plan that includes Email.
- Create your agent inbox. Open Channels > Email integration, enable Email, and copy its address. Leave Send replies automatically off while you try it.
- Verify your business reply address. Add it in Email configuration, then enter the code received in Gmail. Do this before setting up forwarding.
- Forward incoming mail. In Google Admin, go to Apps > Google Workspace > Gmail > Routing. Select the top-level organizational unit, then configure Email forwarding using recipient address map. Map your business address to the copied agent inbox. Choose Only external incoming messages and enable Also route to original destination to keep a Gmail copy. Save. Google says changes can take up to 24 hours and this route preserves the original sender. See Google's instructions.
- Invite replies. Set your campaign tool's Reply-To to the business address. Replace “Do not reply” with “Questions? Reply to this email.” If you change the From address too, complete your sending provider's verification.
- Test the conversation. Send a campaign email to an external mailbox and reply with a product question. In Agentkit's Activity > Emails, review and send the draft. Reply again to check that the conversation returns to Agentkit.
Agentkit sends answers using its agent inbox address and your display name. Your verified business address is the Reply-To. This guide uses Workspace administrator routing; personal Gmail forwarding is a separate setup.
Start with questions your agent can answer
Add your product information and tell the agent what to answer, flag for review, or discard. Keep actions disabled until tested: they can run during drafting even with auto-send off. Retain the Gmail copy for attachments, which the agent cannot read.
Once you're happy with the drafts, you can enable automatic replies for eligible messages. Start with your next product update: invite customers to hit Reply, and give their questions somewhere to go.
